Gwen
McLeish was born in the Caribbean, but lived in London for many years.
Now she's returned to her roots by launching Jungle Things, a business
that develops a range of tropical table drinks and wines. Gwen says
such organic root drinks are very popular and well-established in African,
Caribbean and South American communities, and she's sure they'll go
down just as well in Britain. Gwen says. "I got the idea from my
mother, who began making these drinks when she lived in London. She's
now in her seventies and has returned to the Caribbean, where she still
makes delicious root drinks as part of her daily diet. In tropical countries.
Pure and natural foods contribute to people's health and well-being,
unlike some of the chemically enhanced foods and drinks served up in
the West. I've spent the past seven years researching this idea. These
natural products have been around for thousands of years and I've been
reflecting on what our elders taught us about the need for a good and
wholesome diet."
