Lecture: Friday 2nd May: Introduction
to Chakra Psychology:
7pm for 7.30-9.30pm: £10 (concs £7)
This unique system divides each chakra into
seven micro-chakras, each embodying characteristics of the main
chakra with which it corresponds, as well as the particular element
it resonates with. As our energy flows down the right side of the
body and up the left side, we tap into this energy through the micro-chakras,
which serve as maps through which our individuality expresses itself.
How much of the energy is available to us is entirely governed by
the degree that each micro-chakra is opened or blocked. Knowledge
of micro-chakra blockages and their effects can enable us to tap
into our own potential for both psychological well-being and expanded
awareness. In this introductory evening Sri Shyam-ji will elucidate
the basic grammar of Chakra Psychology and teach us how to use flowing
note melodies precisely to "tune" our chakras to enhance
our health and accelerate our spiritual growth.
Weekend Workshop: 3/4th May: Sounds
of the Heart-Chakra: Saturday:
12.30pm registration for 1pm-6pm Sunday: 10.30am to 5.30pm
Cost: £110 (£70)
The first three chakras are referred to in Sanskrita
as the first linga (linga = that which binds). It is the nature
of the first linga to be "me-oriented", as it is the linga
of do-ership in which we own the products of our efforts and creativity
and are consumed by the drives of the first three chakras for security,
sexuality, and longevity. So long as the first linga is dominant
our energies are focussed upon earning the respect, admiration and
loyalty of others.
The role of the second linga is to contradict this
view and teach us that ultimately "me alone" is a misery.
When we are able to shift our awareness from the third to the fourth
chakra, we become second linga dominant and are able to access a
boundless compassion for others and a true sense of the interconnectedness
of all life. Through the medium of sound we are able to place our
awareness in the heart chakra and gain a momentary glimpse of what
it would be like if we were able to operate from this higher centre
for extened periods of time.
In this weekend workshop Sri Shyam-ji will utilize
specific sounds and mantras that stimulate the fourth micro-chakras
in the first linga sending our energies upwards into the heart.
When the heart chakra becomes energised and activated, our focus
automatically shifts from first linga awareness to second linga
awareness, allowing a sense of spaciousness and deep contentment
to pervade all seven of the chakra minds.

Sound, Chakras & Healing
The chakras are, according to the ancient teachings
of India's Yogis and Ayurvedic Physicians, the subtle energy centres
of the body. They can also be viewed as seven minds, each with its
own desires. The flow of energy through our chakras and the body's
main channels has a tremendous effect on our health and personality.
Sound was one of the primary tools used by the yogic tradition to
unblock and harmonise the chakras, and it developed into an extraordinarily
sophisticated art. Shyam-ji Bhatnagar is the one of the great Naada
Yogis (ie a master of the use of sound for healing and spiritual
cultivation) working in the west.
Inspired by the ancient wisdom of the Chakras,
Shyam-ji Bhatnagar developed Chakra Psychology¸ and InnerTuning¸
Therapy. This profound insight into the role of Chakra Rhythms on
the human psyche, led Shyam-ji to design a simple seven-step programme
that attunes the individual with the cosmic flow of energy through
the Chakras. The main tool for InnerTuning¸ is the use of sound.
Because of its sacred nature, sound not only has therapeutic value
but also spiritually elevates the individual. Using the precise
sounds of InnerTuning¸, hundreds of practitioners have learned to
overcome the debilitating effects of a variety of negative emotions
including anger, anxiety, fears, feelings of inferiority, insomnia,
etc.
Properly chanted, these sounds have an immediate
effect; deep peace is experienced; one feels empowered to take a
distance from the problem. Some of the people who have benefited
from InnerTuning¸include those who have run into difficulties due
to premature spiritual practices which have awakened the inherent
power of the Chakras too early, with disastrous consequences such
as hearing voices or seeing frightening visions, which control their
behaviour and make life miserable. These sounds, intoned in particular
Chakra hours consistently over a period of time, may remove the
root cause of many such problems. purify toxic thinking, and build
confidence. Shyam-ji's voice has a divine grace that will open your
heart. His sound is an important gift to human kind, acting as a
portal to the Akashic realms - Tim Wheater

Sri Shyam-ji Bhatnagar
From an early age, Shyam-ji learned mantras at home. At 13 he met
his guru who taught him the science of sound. His interest in sound
caused him to associate with India's greatest musicians, artists,
philosophers and yogis. In 1960 he migrated to the US and in 1967
he developed Chakra PsychologyTM based on the ancient concept of
the Chakras (subtle energy centres). He is the founder of InnerTuning
TherapyTM which is based on Chakra Psychology. He has a remarkable
voice and the subtlety of his tones and overtones has helped thousands
of people around the world, both therapeutically and spiritually.
His mastery of the tamboura (an ancient gourd and string instrument)
provides a moving accompaniment to his voice and the opportunity
to hear him chant and play is an unforgettable experience for all
that are sound-sensitive.
